The Longest Table Is being set in Mooresville, North Carolina, to celebrate community and One Good Thing! This community-building event will welcome over 1,000 community members to sit down together for a free meal with people they may be neighbors with but still not know.  October 1, 2023, will mark the first time the event has been held in Mooresville. The hope for the event  is to foster a spirit of connection, community, and relationship between neighbors of all income levels, ethnicities, and beliefs.

With the help of conversation facilitators, guests at each table will be asked to share “One Good Thing” that has happened in their life over the last several days or year.  Guests can also share one good thing about the Mooresville community.  It is the belief of the organizers that by talking about one good thing, it will remind the community of all we have to be thankful for within Mooresville.

Members of the public are invited to attend the Longest Table and the event is free to attendees. To register to participate in the Longest Table, please visit https://tinyurl.com/UnitedWayIredell. The table will stretch down Blue Devil Boulevard at Mooresville High School, 659 Center E Center Avenue. Seating will begin at 1:00pm so guests should expect to arrive before then to check in and get their seats. Setting a table all the way down Blue Devil Boulevard and feeding a community is a big lift.  If you are willing to volunteer your time for this worthwhile event, please sign up to volunteer at https://tinyurl.com/mry384uw.

Organizers are hopeful that Mooresville citizens will show up to create community and help build a culture of relationships.  In addition, if attendees are willing and able, they are welcome to bring a non-perishable food item to help the 18,800 people who go hungry in Iredell County.  For more information about food insecurities in Iredell county, please visit – IredellFood.org.
