Iredell County, NC – The United Way of Iredell County is excited to announce the recipients of the 2023 Endowment for the Future Grants. The Endowment for the Future Committee received 29 applications this year.

The Committee prioritized programs that would provide solutions in one of the following areas determined through the community, stakeholders, and agency surveys: create long term solutions for individuals who are experiencing housing inadequacy; strengthen the education system by supporting those who teach our children in daycares and in primary school; improve the community by directly teaching a life skill that will advance our neighbors’ quality of life.

Nelson Granade, Endowment Committee Chair, shared: “We were honored to receive so many thoughtful and compassionate proposals this cycle.  Our commitment with these endowed funds is to make sizeable grants that enable real and lasting changes to the social service network in Iredell County.  This made the job of our volunteers reviewing the proposals quite difficult, but we are very excited to be able to support the following partners to grow their impact and effectiveness.”

The 2023 Endowment for the Future grant recipients are:

  • Hope of Mooresville: Provides solutions for women and children experiencing housing inadequacy through a holistic hands-on case management program that provides support and guidance addressing the underlying causes of homelessness. This grant will support the expansion of services through the opening of a new home.
  • Iredell County Partnership for Young Children: Supports the early education system by providing scholarships to cover the cost of required health and safety training at no cost to Early Childhood educators.
  • The Christian Mission: Launch a workforce development program that provides direct teaching, mentoring, and hands-on experience through community collaboration and comprehensive training.

The $87,500 in grant funding awarded by the United Way of Iredell County Endowment for the Future is one part of the $1,221,708.00 in local grants and services provided to support the health, education, and financial stability of Iredell County residents through the United Way of Iredell County.  This support is made possible through the generosity of members across our community.  On behalf of the tens of thousands of individuals positively impacted by our partnering organizations, thank you to all of our donors, volunteers and partners.

To increase our ability to serve the needs of our community, United Way has set a bold goal for growing our Endowment over the next three years.  Please consider joining us in this effort.  For more information on the Endowment for the Future or ways you can help at the United Way of Iredell County, please contact Director of Major Giving, Genevieve Glaser.
