HIVE is the United Way of Iredell County’s volunteer center. It is powered by innovative and seamless software designed to engage both individuals and organizations, fostering a culture of volunteerism that brings positive impact to Iredell County communities.
HIVE’S OBJECTIVE
- Effortless Connection to local causes in our community
The intuitive interface allows volunteers to explore a diverse range of opportunities filtered by interest, location, and time commitment. As a registered member of HIVE, you can respond to local volunteer needs and stay informed of local events agencies are having.
- Creating Community
HIVE is a vibrant community where volunteers can participate, collaborate on projects, and celebrate achievements. A place where everyone belongs, turning volunteerism into a social and rewarding experience.
- Data-Driven Impact
Organizations can track volunteer hours, quantify the positive change that volunteers are creating, and share impactful stories with stakeholders.
Volunteers can personalize their experience by selecting opportunities they connect with and give back to in the community. HIVE functionality allows them to receive notifications of needs and events they are passionate about, build their “volunteer resume” and gain insight into their contributions and hours.

HOW HIVE WORKS FOR YOU
- Personal Connection
Through HIVE, we create a space for community members to explore our local agencies and connect with volunteer opportunities that speak to them. Sometimes that is helping at a food bank. Sometimes that is working with a team of volunteers putting backpacks together for school-aged children. There are numerous ways to give back – and the United Way of Iredell County is working hard to support opportunities for anyone that wants to get involved in their community.
- Corporate Engagement
Sometimes it’s difficult to find a volunteer opportunity for large groups…so let us help!!! If you are part of a large corporate or civic group, team or club looking to engage in giving back to an agency in need – please contact us directly to discuss what types of opportunities we can curate for you, utilizing the power of HIVE to organize and manage your team’s event.
- Volunteer Recognition
We are proud to facilitate Iredell County’s submission process for the Governor’s Volunteer Service Award, honoring our outstanding volunteers. The awards program, created by the Office of the Governor in 1979, recognizes North Carolina’s most dedicated volunteers. Through the years, the award has been bestowed on thousands of North Carolinians who have shown concern and compassion for their neighbors by volunteering in their local community. Nominations open in the Fall each year, with the deadline being around mid-February. Recipients are announced in early Spring and honored with a recognition ceremony. Please follow us on social media for announcements pertaining to this prestigious honor!
HOW CAN YOU SUPPORT HIVE?
HIVE was created with many ideas in mind, but most importantly at the center of it all is the urgency to support agencies and organizations in Iredell County that are providing services directly to our residents in need. In our endeavors to build a vast volunteer engagement network, we are looking for Sponsors to support HIVE and the impact it will make in our communities. By championing our cause, you will receive recognition and other benefits at local events, media announcements, and other HIVE related print materials and digital products.
If you want to know more about how you can support HIVE and community-driven volunteerism through sponsorship, please contact Linda Wahlberg at [email protected].
