The $35,000 Smooch: Final Push for Iredell United Way Campaign to Feature Facebook Live Cow Kiss

STATESVILLE, NC — United Way of Iredell County is entering the final stretch of its annual community campaign with deep gratitude for the thousands of donors who have already pledged their support. To help bridge the final gap, Campaign Chair Jeff Bardoni of Bobcat of Statesville has issued a high-stakes challenge: he will kiss Otis the Steer at Rescue Ranch in Statesville if the community raises the final $35,000 of the fundraising goal before the end of June.

This lighthearted “cow-centric” finale highlights the serious impact of local giving. Reaching this goal ensures that the United Way can continue supporting essential services in health, education, and financial stability for people across Iredell County.  Last year United Way of Iredell County funding supported 56 locally serving non-profits and the many clients they serve.

“We are incredibly thankful for the neighbors who have already stepped up,” said Jeff Bardoni. “Their generosity is already changing lives. This final $35,000 is about closing the gap for our community—the organizations that feed our hungry, house our homeless, and mentor our children. If my pucker-up with Otis helps get us there, it’s a small price to pay for such a big community win.”

A Livestreamed Event at Rescue Ranch

Should the goal be achieved by June 30th, United Way is proud to announce that the “Big Smooch” will be hosted by appreciated community partner Rescue Ranch. To ensure the whole county can join the fun, the event will be livestreamed on Facebook.
